The Innovative 3D Printing Invention: The Machine That Creates Real Color Parts with High Precision
Additive manufacturing technology continues to advance at a rapid pace, and each new release aims to solve one of the historical challenges of 3D printing: obtaining ready-to-use parts without dedicating hours to manual finishing. This quest has driven the development of equipment that promises to change part of the workflow for designers, content creators, and small workshops.
The system was presented by the company Hey Gears under the name G1X and combines functions that until recently were only available in much larger and more expensive industrial equipment. Its proposal consists of printing three-dimensional models with incorporated colors from the very beginning, avoiding subsequent painting and finishing processes.
Although its performance still needs to be verified when it reaches a larger number of users, the initiative has sparked interest within the sector because it aims to reduce production times, improve detail levels, and offer new alternatives for those who manufacture prototypes, collectible figures, or customized products.
The main difference of the Hey Gears G1X compared to many conventional 3D printers is that it produces color models directly from the printer. In other words, the piece comes out practically finished, without the need for hand painting or applying additional processes to give it the final appearance.
To achieve this, the system employs an Epson head with 3,200 nozzles and eight ink channels capable of reproducing more than 10 million colors. The process combines inkjet printing with ultraviolet light curing, building the object layer by layer with high precision.
Another striking aspect is the ability to incorporate transparent areas within the same print, a feature uncommon in desktop equipment. This opens the door to manufacturing models, decorative figures, display pieces, and prototypes with finishes much closer to the final product.
One of the points that generates the most interest is the time savings. In traditional methods, many users must sand, paint, and correct small imperfections after printing. With this proposal, much of that work disappears because the pieces come out with integrated color and with water-soluble supports that can be removed without special tools.
Among its specifications, it stands out with a resolution of up to 1,440 × 2,400 DPI, accompanied by a layer thickness of between 10 and 20 microns, a measure thinner than a human hair. This precision aims to minimize the classic visible lines that often appear in many three-dimensional prints.
The equipment has a working area of 330 × 130 × 420 millimeters and can manufacture objects with a maximum height close to 150 millimeters. Additionally, it supports different printing platforms to adapt to various types of projects.
Another highlighted feature is its ability to perform UV printing in two dimensions on more than 400 materials, including wood, glass, stone, metal, ceramics, canvas, and various plastics. Thanks to this, it can customize products such as phone cases, keychains, bottles, cups, or promotional items, expanding the range of applications beyond traditional 3D printing.
The machine also incorporates an internal air filtration system, automatic cleaning processes to reduce blockages, and water-based inks designed to generate less odor during operation.
