Buying your first crypto comes down to four steps — register, secure the account, deposit, and buy — and doing each one carefully matters more than doing it fast. This guide walks through them plainly, and is honest about the parts that guides often skip: how to choose where you buy, what the security facts actually mean, and the risk you are taking on. One thing stated up front: WEEX is a global exchange and is not registered with Indonesia's financial authorities (OJK / Bappebti). This is general information, not financial advice, and crypto — especially with leverage — can lose value fast.

▶ Ready to start? Create a WEEX account — registration takes a few minutes.

Before you start: choosing where to buy — honestly

Indonesia has domestic exchanges supervised/licensed locally (OJK / Bappebti), and that local oversight is a genuine factor — it is reasonable to start there, and you can check any platform's licensed status on the authorities' registers. Global exchanges like WEEX offer a different product set (including perpetual futures), but WEEX is not registered with OJK or Bappebti; stated neutrally, that means Indonesia's domestic customer protections are not assured when you use it. Weigh that trade-off before you decide, and verify the status of any venue yourself rather than trusting a "best" or "trusted" label from anyone — including this page.

Step 1 — Register (cara daftar)

Registration is quick and free on most platforms: you sign up with an email or phone number and set a strong, unique password. To raise your withdrawal limits and unlock more features, you complete identity verification (KYC) — a normal step, not an obstacle. Verify carefully and honestly; higher verification levels usually mean higher limits. Never register through a link in a message or ad — go to the platform's official site or its app from an official store.

Step 2 — Secure your account first (before you deposit)

Do this before putting money in, not after:

    • Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA).
    • Set an anti-phishing code so you can tell genuine notifications from fakes.
    • Use a unique password and, if offered, a withdrawal-address whitelist.

Most account losses are phishing and social engineering, not hacks of the exchange. The five minutes here matter more than any trade.

Step 3 — Deposit (funding your account)

Fund the account using the methods available for Indonesia inside your chosen app — typically options like bank transfer, e-wallets, or peer-to-peer (P2P), depending on the platform. Check the available methods and fees in-app before you deposit; they vary by venue and can change. If you searched "cara beli bitcoin dengan pulsa" (buying with phone credit/airtime): airtime top-up is a domestic payment category some services support, but it is not universal — do not assume any specific exchange accepts it. Confirm exactly which methods your venue supports rather than relying on a generic claim. Start with a small first deposit while you learn the flow.

Step 4 — Buy your first crypto (cara beli / cara membeli bitcoin)

With funds in your account, buying is straightforward: choose the asset (for example Bitcoin), open the spot buy screen, enter an amount in rupiah or the trading pair, review the fee and the total, and confirm. For a first purchase, spot — buying the asset outright — is the simplest and lowest-risk way in. Selling later (jual beli crypto) works the same way in reverse. Keep your first buy small; the goal of the first purchase is to learn the process, not to make money on it.

Beyond spot: what leverage and futures mean (and why to wait)

Platforms like WEEX are built around perpetual futures — leveraged contracts — alongside spot. Leverage can multiply gains, but it multiplies losses just as much, and a leveraged position can be liquidated (closed at a loss automatically). This is not a beginner's first move. If you want to try it eventually, learn on spot first, use any practice/demo mode if the app offers one, and only ever risk a tiny amount you can fully afford to lose. Futures is a tool for later, not step five.

    The security facts that matter

When you judge a venue, look for checkable facts, not slogans:

    • Proof of Reserves. WEEX publishes a Proof of Reserves page (weex.com/proof-of-reserves) stating its reserve ratio can be verified on CoinMarketCap and GitHub — check it yourself.
    • Protection fund. WEEX states it holds a 1,000 BTC Protection Fund with public wallet addresses (weex.com/protectfund); read the stated exclusions — it does not cover trading losses, and a claim must be raised within 30 days.
    • Cold storage. Per WEEX's own statement, 95%+ of assets sit in multi-signature cold storage — a company statement rather than an independent audit — check it yourself on the official channels.

None of these guarantees your money is safe. They are simply things you can check — and you should be able to check the same for any venue you choose.

    About the welcome bonus

If a platform offers a sign-up reward, treat it as a small extra, not a reason to trade. On WEEX it is labelled "bonus selamat datang" (welcome bonus) — read its terms before opting in. A bonus is never a promise of profit, and no legitimate guide will tell you crypto returns are guaranteed.

    Risk disclosure

Crypto assets are volatile and can lose value quickly; you can lose money, and there is no guaranteed return. Leveraged futures magnify losses as well as gains and can be liquidated. Using a global venue not registered in Indonesia means domestic customer protections are not assured. Nothing here is a promise of profit or safety — buy only what you can afford to lose, and if a source promises certain gains, treat that as a warning sign.
