Hotta Maruzen (TSE: 8105) is a small-cap on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard market that began life as a textile and apparel wholesaler — and, following approval at an extraordinary shareholder meeting, reportedly renamed itself "Bitcoin Japan" in November 2025, declaring a Bitcoin-treasury strategy. The twist that keeps the boards arguing: as of June 2026 it held zero BTC. Only on July 17, 2026 did it announce a raise of roughly ¥9.66 billion, earmarking about ¥660 million for its first Bitcoin purchase — and the stock crashed 26.67% to ¥99 that day on dilution fears. This page summarizes the board talking points as of July 2026, the business and its Bitcoin position, and how to read the stock.

The 8105 board runs hot, as befits a micro-cap that multiplied and collapsed within weeks. The themes visible in Japanese press coverage as of July 2026:
These are observed talking points, not our views or recommendations.
The legacy company, Hotta Maruzen, is an old-line textile and apparel wholesaler, and Yahoo Finance Japan still classifies the stock under wholesale trade. An extraordinary shareholder meeting in mid-October 2025 approved the corporate rename, reportedly effective November 11, 2025. Around the same time, RIZAP Group terminated its capital and business partnership with the company on November 12, 2025.
The core fact: the company held no Bitcoin as of June 3, 2026. The July 17, 2026 raise of about ¥9.66 billion allocates roughly ¥660 million to a first BTC purchase, so any treasury is yet to be built. Nor is the company a crypto exchange, whatever the name suggests. Financially, the April–September 2025 half closed with a net loss of about ¥240 million and a downward full-year revision announced November 10, 2025; the legacy apparel base is small and loss-making. Market capitalization is roughly ¥6.7 billion as of July 2026 — a genuine micro-cap.
The shares spiked to a 52-week high of ¥369 on June 4, 2026, then collapsed to a 52-week low of ¥87 on July 17, closing that day at ¥99 — a fall of more than 70% from the peak in about six weeks. Bulls argue that once the funded first Bitcoin purchase actually executes, the treasury story gains substance. Bears counter that holdings are still zero, the CB-and-warrant structure implies serial dilution risk, and the company is at a completely different stage from established Bitcoin-treasury names. This page sets no price target; the disclosure trail on actual BTC purchases is the thing to verify before believing the story.
The center of the Bitcoin Japan story is Bitcoin itself. To own the shares, the standard route is a Japanese brokerage account. A textile wholesaler renaming itself Bitcoin Japan, a roughly 3.5x surge in a week, margin restrictions, and a dilutive ¥9.66 billion raise — the ingredients of a running board argument.
Zero as of June 3, 2026. About ¥660 million from the July 17, 2026 financing is earmarked for the company's first purchase.
It was designated a supervised issue in late March 2026 over a listing-maintenance standard, but the designation was lifted on April 15, 2026 after compliance was restored. As of July 2026 no designation is in place.
