Strategy Halts Bitcoin Purchases, Sells 3,458,866 Shares for 333.7 Million USD

Strategy has not purchased Bitcoin for another week and did not sell any this time. The Nasdaq-listed company reported in a regulatory filing that it raised its cash buffer by selling 3,458,866 shares of MSTR common stock, generating 333.7 million USD. It allocated 52.4 million USD for dividends on its STRC preferred stock and spent 132.2 million USD to repurchase stock, while adding 149.1 million USD to its dollar reserve. Formerly MicroStrategy, the company has shifted to selling common stock to build cash reserves instead of buying Bitcoin. It has paused Bitcoin sales and sold part of its holdings over the past two months after aggressive purchases in 2025. Strategy's stock (Nasdaq: MSTR) has dropped over 60% year-to-date in 2026, trading at just over 95 USD, nearly 80% below its 2024 peak. Since starting Bitcoin purchases in 2020 to protect shareholder returns, it has become the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, with 840,447 coins valued at 53.4 billion USD, acquired at an average price of 63,357 USD. Despite focusing on cash reserves, CEO Phong Le reassured investors of the company's long-term commitment to Bitcoin, stating he is not concerned about the current bear market and plans to continue as a long-term buyer. Strategy's approach has inspired other companies to adopt similar crypto-treasury strategies.
