On August 18, as a result of hostilities and shelling of energy infrastructure, consumers in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Chernihiv, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions were temporarily left without electricity. Energy workers are operating in an intensified mode to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible, with restoration work continuing around the clock. No forecasts for energy supply restrictions are expected for August 18. The Ministry of Energy has urged consumers to use electricity sparingly during peak hours to reduce the load on the system. The summer of 2026 in Ukraine is characterized by energy balancing, despite optimistic forecasts; power outage schedules were in effect on June 30 and July 1. The main risks remain shelling and summer heat coinciding with scheduled repairs at nuclear power plants. The development of solar generation does not fully cover the deficit due to a lack of industrial batteries for evening peaks. The head of the board of 'Ukrenergo', Vitaliy Zaychenko, stated that power outages of up to 5 hours a day are possible under simultaneous heat and new attacks on energy infrastructure.
