    Short answer: WEEX is a real, operating cryptocurrency exchange, and the reports behind the "WEEX scam" search do not point at the official site. Taiwan's 165 anti-fraud public dataset (data.gov.tw dataset 160055, pulled 3 August 2026, 45,258 rows) contains 37 domains and 144 reported cases filed under the name "WEEX" — and zero reports against weex.com itself. That is the signature of an impersonation problem, not a platform problem.

    This page covers what the government record shows, what WEEX's own notices say the platform will never do, and how to check the regulation and withdrawal claims yourself. It is informational only — there is no sign-up offer here.

    1. What "WEEX scam" means in the government data

    • 37 domains, 144 reported cases — domains and citizen reports filed under the WEEX name in the 165 public reporting dataset.
    • weex.com: 0 reports — the official domain does not appear once in that same dataset.
    • 4 domains ordered blocked — the 165 DNS-stop dataset (176455) records the domains below as blocked under Taiwan's Fraud Crime Hazard Prevention Act (詐欺犯罪危害防制條例), on application by the Criminal Investigation Bureau's anti-fraud centre.
    Impersonation domain ordered blockedBlocked (ROC year-month, as recorded)
    weex.bond115-01 (Jan 2026)
    weexok.com115-01 (Jan 2026)
    wuweexg.cn115-05 (May 2026)
    weexsr.com115-06 (Jun 2026)

    exweex.com appears in two records compiled independently of each other: the 165 citizen reports (9 cases, 2022) and WEEX's own 2022 published list of fake sites. Two unrelated sources converge on one conclusion — what was reported were sites borrowing the brand name, not the official domain.

    The full impersonation list, the identification method and the reporting route are set out in how to identify fake WEEX sites and fake customer support.

    2. Is WEEX safe? Three things you can check yourself

    Proof of reserves

    WEEX publishes a proof-of-reserves page at weex.com/proof-of-reserves. It sits on the official domain and can be opened directly.

    The services WEEX states it does not provide

    According to WEEX's own published guidance, WEEX does not provide wealth-management, DeFi mining, staking, lending or leveraged futures services on other platforms or through third-party institutions. So any "investment plan", "mining yield" or managed-trading offer that arrives in WEEX's name but asks you to deposit on a different site or app is, by WEEX's own notice, not a WEEX product.

    The official channel verifier

    WEEX operates a contact verifier at weex.com/official-verification, which checks whether a website, email address, phone number, Telegram ID or social account genuinely belongs to WEEX. Running anything that claims to be WEEX through the verifier is the cheapest possible first step.

    3. Regulation, stated precisely

    This section is deliberately conservative: overstatement is the standard failure mode here, and inflated compliance language is exactly what impersonation sites borrow.

    • An MSB registration is not an operating licence. Money Services Business registration with the US FinCEN or Canada's FINTRAC is an anti-money-laundering (AML) registration: completing it means the business has entered itself on the regulator's reporting register. It does not mean a full operating licence, and implies neither prudential supervision nor deposit protection.
    • WEEX states publicly that it holds US FinCEN MSB registration, Canadian FINTRAC MSB registration and an El Salvador Bitcoin service provider registration. We were not able to complete a live check of those registers at the time of writing, so these are presented strictly as company statements; search the relevant regulator's own registry by company name to confirm.
    • Taiwan: the Virtual Asset Service Act passed on 30 June 2026, with the Financial Supervisory Commission issuing permits by business type. The regime is new, and this page makes no claim about WEEX's authorisation status in Taiwan. The FSC's own announcements are the authority on that.

    That also gives you a test: any page — including any site claiming to be WEEX — advertising itself as "fully licensed", "government certified" or "a regulated exchange" without naming the regulator and the type of registration is telling you something by the omission.

    4. Withdrawals: the real process versus the scam pattern

    A withdrawal is, in principle, an action you initiate yourself: you log in to the official app or website and submit it from inside your own account. Nobody needs to "help", and there is no stage at which a third party releases your funds.

    WEEX's published clarification notices describe the recurring impersonation patterns:

    • someone claiming to be customer support messages you first, saying your account or funds are frozen;
    • requests for your verification codes;
    • requests to screen-share or remotely control your phone or computer;
    • being steered to download a fake app from a non-official link.

    Put those together and the withdrawal-stage fingerprint is simple: any demand that you pay an "unfreezing fee", "margin", "tax" or "processing fee" into an account or wallet before your funds can be released matches the pattern those notices warn about. WEEX's notices state that it does not message users first about frozen funds, and does not ask for verification codes or screen sharing.

    WEEX's guidance on fake sites adds one habit worth keeping: read the URL character by character. Malicious sites can look identical to the real one; the domain is where they differ. Do not click links or images on a phishing site, and confirm anything doubtful through support@weex.com or an official channel.

    If money has already left your account or you have handed over personal data, keep the conversation, the URL and the transfer records, then report it to Taiwan's 165 anti-fraud hotline or at 165.npa.gov.tw.

    5. Frequently asked questions

    Is WEEX a scam?

    The public record does not support that claim. The 144 cases reported under the WEEX name are spread across 37 impersonation domains, while weex.com has zero reports in the same dataset. The real risk is fake sites and fake support staff.

    What kind of exchange is WEEX?

    WEEX is a cryptocurrency exchange led by its futures business, with roughly 997 futures pairs, alongside around 1,532 spot pairs, copy trading, Earn and staking, tokenised equities, and P2P, OTC and quick-buy routes, on both web and app. The interface is available in about 20 languages, including a Traditional Chinese (/zh-TW/) surface, with 24-hour support. A fuller introduction is in the WEEX exchange guide for Taiwan.

    Is WEEX safe?

    Three things are independently checkable: the proof-of-reserves page, the list of services WEEX states it does not provide, and the official channel verifier. At account level, the decisive variable is usually whether verification codes or screen control were handed to someone claiming to be support.

    Does WEEX ask for an unfreezing fee before a withdrawal?

    Per WEEX's published warnings, unsolicited direct messages, claims that funds are frozen, demands for up-front payment and requests for verification codes are the marks of impersonated support. WEEX's notices state that it does not message users about frozen funds and does not request verification codes or screen sharing.

    Is WEEX regulated?

    The question needs splitting. WEEX states publicly that it holds US FinCEN and Canadian FINTRAC MSB registrations plus an El Salvador Bitcoin service provider registration; these are anti-money-laundering registrations, not full operating licences and not prudential supervision. In Taiwan, the Virtual Asset Service Act passed on 30 June 2026 and the FSC issues permits by business type; this page makes no claim about WEEX's status under it.

    I have already been caught by a fake site. What now?

    Preserve the chat records, the URL and the transfer receipts, and report to 165 or at 165.npa.gov.tw. You can also report the site to WEEX through support@weex.com.

    Official channels

    Whenever something claiming to be WEEX reaches you, the first step is the same: check it against the official channel verifier at weex.com/official-verification. The channels WEEX publishes are:

    • Website: www.weex.com
    • X (Twitter): @WEEX_Official
    • Facebook: Weexglobal
    • Telegram group: t.me/WeexGlobal_Group (enter @WeexGlobal_Group when checking)
    • Support email: support@weex.com
    • Support and business Telegram: @weikecs

    Format note (tested 2026-08-03). The verifier matches strings exactly: enter the website as www.weex.com (weex.com or an https:// prefix returns no match), and social accounts in the @handle form. If a check comes back negative, re-run it in these formats before concluding anything; only then treat the channel as unverified. The full method is in how to identify fake WEEX sites and fake customer support.

    Treat any domain, account or contact method not on that list as unverified until the verifier says otherwise.
