Zaprite Launches P2P Payment App in Bitcoin
Zaprite Inc., based in Austin, Texas, has launched a P2P payment application in bitcoin similar to Venmo. Users can search for contacts, send BTC, or request payments without needing their own wallet, as it connects existing wallets. The app allows linking wallets and custody service accounts, currently compatible with Strike, Lexe, Blink, Alby, Blitz, and Coinos, with plans to add support for Speed. Account creation is done using a phone number, and contacts are stored on the device without the company retaining information about them. The service operates independently of the wallet used, and if the sender and receiver use different services, they can share addresses or QR codes. Additionally, it allows generating a payment link for recipients who do not use the app. Zaprite is working to expand the number of compatible wallets, and its platform for businesses supports global bitcoin payments, although its availability in specific Latin American markets has not been confirmed. This launch expands Zaprite's activities, which had focused on tools for merchants accepting bitcoin and fiat currency.
