The Wyoming Stable Token Commission announced the total migration of its frontier stablecoin (FRNT) infrastructure to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), replacing LayerZero. This move establishes CCIP as the exclusive bridge to connect the state asset across different cryptocurrency networks under a multi-year agreement. Chainlink confirmed the change, highlighting that Wyoming is doubling down on security following the $292 million hack of KelpDAO's rsETH token on April 20, which was caused by a configuration decision that contradicted LayerZero's recommendations. In light of this vulnerability, the state agency opted for Chainlink's architecture to safeguard the funds. CCIP operates as a network of oracles, transmitting messages and transferring data or assets between independent cryptocurrency networks. The FRNT stablecoin is already operational on eight networks: Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Hedera, Optimism, and Polygon. The token is backed by U.S. dollars and short-term Treasury securities, aimed at payments and public sector applications. It began operations on August 19, 2025, and enabled direct public purchases in January 2026 through Kraken, albeit with geographical restrictions. Critics argue that it could function as a camouflaged CBDC. This change adds to a trend in the industry, where various organizations have abandoned old bridges after software failures, driving the migration of over $7 billion in tokens to CCIP in the second quarter of 2026.
