Water in Lviv May Rise to 56 UAH per Cubic Meter: What We Know
LKP "Lvivvodokanal" has proposed to more than double the tariff for centralized water supply and sewage services—from the current 25.88 UAH to 56.38 UAH per cubic meter. The need to revise the tariff is explained by the increase in costs for electricity, labor, and taxes.
As reported by Delo.ua, this was stated by the director of LKP "Lvivvodokanal," Dmytro Vankovych.
According to him, the tariff revision is necessary due to a significant increase in the cost of electricity, labor expenses, and tax burdens.
Dmytro Vankovych noted that the financial condition of the enterprise remains difficult. He stated that out of the 323 million UAH allocated by the city to support "Lvivvodokanal," 226 million UAH has already been used in seven months. If the tariff remains unchanged, the enterprise's losses could reach 672 million UAH by the end of the year. At the same time, he estimates that adjusting the tariff would allow for an additional 409 million UAH to be raised and reduce losses to 262 million UAH.
According to the enterprise's calculations, after the tariff increase, the average Lviv family will pay approximately 198 UAH more per month for water supply and sewage services. At the same time, low-income households will be able to offset additional expenses by applying for housing subsidies.
Lvivvodokanal also notes that the tariff increase does not imply an improvement in the quality of water supply or service levels but is aimed at ensuring the stable operation of the enterprise amid rising costs.
The final decision on the tariff change must be made by the executive committee of the Lviv City Council.
In early July, LKP "Lvivvodokanal" submitted calculations for the new water supply and sewage tariff to the Lviv City Council. At that time, the enterprise explained that the economically justified tariff, which fully covers costs for electricity, fuel, reagents, labor, repairs, and modernization of networks, should be around 100 UAH per cubic meter.
Currently, the tariff for water supply and sewage in Lviv is 25.88 UAH per cubic meter and has remained unchanged since the beginning of 2022. This is one of the lowest rates among major cities in Ukraine. In terms of service costs for the population, Lviv is second only to Vinnytsia, where the tariff is 25.62 UAH per cubic meter.
In 2026, territorial communities were granted the right to independently set tariffs for water supply and sewage. At the same time, even if the tariff rises to 56.38 UAH per cubic meter, the Lviv tariff will remain lower than in many other cities in Ukraine, where the cost of these services already ranges from 56 to 139 UAH per cubic meter.
Ukrainian water utilities are widely announcing intentions to raise tariffs for consumers this summer. In some cities, the cost of one cubic meter of water may increase more than twice.
Previously, tariff increases were blocked at the political level, but this year the Verkhovna Rada decided that decisions on tariff changes can be made at the local level. The National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKU) only checks the correctness of the calculations, while the decision on tariff changes is made at the level of local authorities.
From June 1, 2026, the first stage of tariff increases for water began in Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation.
In Pavlohrad, water prices rose to 113 UAH, in Drohobych to 87.3 UAH, in Zaporizhzhia to 69.3 UAH, in Chernivtsi to 63.5 UAH, and residents of Borodyanka in Kyiv region will pay a total of 139.3 UAH per cubic meter of water starting July 1.
Additionally, deputies of the Lutsk City Council decided to raise tariffs for centralized water supply and sewage. Now local consumers will pay 67.42 UAH per cubic meter instead of the previous 28.42 UAH.
For residents of Uzhhorod, the price of water has increased from 42.86 UAH to 76.03 UAH per cubic meter.
