The Varus supermarket chain has received approval from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to purchase the Aritail store chain, owned by Gennady Butkevich. The regulator issued the approval on July 16, 2026, for Varus's operating company, Omega LLC, to take control of LLC "Aritail." This agreement will be one of the largest in the retail market in 2026. Varus plans to retain the team from the "Kolo" stores and provide employees with new development opportunities. The first "Kolo" store opened in May 2017, and the chain has grown to over 250 stores in Kyiv and Odesa. In 2025, Varus's revenue increased by 19.5% to 28.8 billion hryvnias. The "Arsen" supermarket chain confirmed the closure of all its stores in Ukraine, and some locations will be taken over by the "Silpo" chain, which has received approval from the AMCU for the acquisition.
