Soundgarden's final album is currently in the mixing phase and will include eight songs recorded by Chris Cornell, who passed away in 2017. The band had been working on new material with Cornell prior to his death. On the eighth anniversary of his passing in 2025, Soundgarden hinted at the sound of the new music, stating that it is exciting to hear Cornell sing. In 2023, the band resolved a legal dispute with Cornell's estate over the rights to several unreleased songs. Matt Cameron, the drummer, confirmed that the album is in the mixing process and that there is no set release date. Cameron mentioned that the group is working step by step to finalize the project. Additionally, the album is expected to include some instrumental pieces that guitarist Kim Thayil wishes to work on. In 2022, Soundgarden was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside other notable artists.
