On the 21st, the labor union of Samsung Electronics' finished products division held a rally in front of the Seocho office in Seoul to protest the disparity in bonuses compared to the semiconductor division. The union estimated that between 3,000 and 3,500 participants gathered at the west side of the Seocho office at 3 PM, demanding an end to discrimination against the DX division. The core issue of the rally was the special management bonus applied to the Samsung Electronics DS division, with both parties agreeing to establish a new special management bonus funded by 10.5% of the semiconductor division's business performance. The union argued that this agreement excluded the DX division, claiming that only the semiconductor division was promised a separate bonus fund. The DX division is responsible for finished products such as smartphones, TVs, and home appliances, while the DS division handles semiconductor businesses like memory and system semiconductors. The union also raised concerns about the distribution of performance bonuses and the wage negotiation process. The rally is scheduled to continue until 7 PM and includes free speeches by union members, marches, and performances. The internal conflict over bonuses at Samsung Electronics remains a problem related to the differing compensation standards between the finished products and semiconductor divisions.
