In the options market for BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), retail investors' buying position has reached its highest level in nearly two years. At 8:50 AM KST on the 20th, Galaxy Research analyst Alex Son reported that the retail directional bias for IBIT has hit a record high, with retail investors' exposure to buying significantly exceeding that of selling. This indicator reflects investor positioning in the options market rather than net inflows or the number of shares held in IBIT. The increase in buying exposure indicates that retail investors are participating more in the rise of Bitcoin through IBIT options. IBIT is a U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF managed by BlackRock, providing a pathway for investors who find it difficult to hold Bitcoin directly. Recently, the trends related to IBIT have shown differences between institutional and retail investors, with Intesa Sanpaolo reducing its holdings in IBIT while increasing its Ethereum ETF holdings, whereas UBS maintains exposure to IBIT shares and call options. The impact of this increase in retail investors' buying exposure on Bitcoin prices or ETF net inflows will need to be confirmed through additional market indicators.
