Poll: Majority of Americans Disapprove Trump's Crypto Profits

A majority of Americans believe President Donald Trump and his family have improperly profited from cryptocurrency since his return to the White House, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll. The survey revealed that 63% of respondents found it inappropriate for Trump and his family to benefit from crypto, while 32% deemed it appropriate. Additionally, 69% of participants believe the president's private business interests influence his decisions in office, including two-thirds of independents and 90% of Democrats. Notably, about half of Trump's fellow Republicans also think his business interests affect his decision-making. Despite this, around 70% of Republicans consider the family's crypto dealings appropriate. The online poll, conducted from August 14 to 17 with 1,166 U.S. adults, has a margin of error of 3 percentage points. Financial disclosures earlier this year indicated Trump earned over 1.4 billion dollars from crypto ventures, prompting Democratic efforts to limit his involvement. The White House denied any impropriety, asserting there are no conflicts of interest and that Trump acts in the public's interest. The poll coincides with ongoing discussions among lawmakers regarding the Clarity Act, which aims to restrict the president's crypto activities ahead of a Senate vote next month.
