OpenAI's Ohio super data center has officially signed a contract, with the first phase of the 4.25GW project underway, allowing Nvidia to secure approximately 3.75GW remaining. The two parties had discussed a guarantee of up to $250 billion, but the final cap for the first phase is set at $105 billion. This guarantee does not represent direct financial support; Nvidia will only need to cover the difference if OpenAI goes bankrupt or fails to pay rent. OpenAI is required to repay Nvidia for any actual costs incurred. Nvidia will also invest $1.5 billion in developer SB Energy, and the park will primarily utilize Nvidia's AI computing power. Jensen Huang estimates that each generation of deployed systems could correspond to about 1.5 million GPUs, with revenues ranging between $150 billion and $200 billion. Huang responded to external skepticism, emphasizing that Nvidia only bears specific risks related to rent, electricity, and asset residual value, and is not taking on the entire project's risk for OpenAI.
