The world's largest publicly traded bitcoin miner, MARA, sold approximately 23,093 bitcoin in the first half of 2026, resulting in proceeds of $1.63 billion, or about €1.41 billion. On average, each bitcoin sold generated $70,631. By the end of June, MARA still held 35,577 BTC, valued at approximately $2.08 billion. The proceeds from the bitcoin sales are being used for operational expenses, new growth plans, and to ensure sufficient liquidity. This year, MARA is also focusing more on artificial intelligence and high-performance computing. In the first half of 2026, reorganization costs amounted to $47.6 million, of which $42 million is related to the termination of certain activities. On August 4, MARA secured $600 million in loans from Coinbase and Two Prime, with 18,750 BTC as collateral.
