The U.S. spot prices are trading cheaper than overseas, and the institutional trading volume has decreased. As of 1:45 PM on August 27, the Coinbase premium was -0.0832%, indicating that U.S. investors are buying at lower prices than abroad. The trading volume on Coinbase Prime, the institutional trading platform, was 6,517.39 BTC on August 26, a 39.8% decrease from the previous day's 10,829.15 BTC. The 24-hour trading volume is approximately $373.6 million. According to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), as of August 18, the long positions in CME Bitcoin futures were 4,488, while short positions were 11,927, meaning shorts are 2.7 times the longs. The VIX index was 15.21 as of August 26, down from 15.45 the previous day. The dollar index slightly decreased to 99.15 as of August 27, and the yield on the U.S. 10-year Treasury bond is 4.64%. Currently, the market sentiment in the U.S. shows weakness in the crypto sector, and attention is focused on whether the premium will recover and if prime trading volume will increase.
