On August 18, a drone exploded at a transport stop used by employees of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. As a result, one person was killed and 15 were injured, three of whom are in serious condition. The industrial zone of the plant was also affected, but no significant damage was reported. The occupation authorities of the ZNPP called the incident "the worst." Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the IAEA, urged an end to attacks on nuclear facilities and their personnel, calling the actions unacceptable and a threat to nuclear safety. It is worth noting that on July 15, the chief engineer of the ZNPP, Alexander Yakovlev, was killed in a drone attack. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry rejected Russia's accusations of involvement in his death. The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, seized by Russian troops in March 2022, is not generating electricity, and six reactors are in a cold shutdown state.
