Anthropic has expanded the connector features for Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar in Claude. Users can search for and compose emails in the chat window, search, share, and move Drive files, and create and modify schedules. Currently, the Google Workspace connector is available to Claude and Claude Desktop users, primarily for paid plans. Team and enterprise users must activate the connector at the account level. The connector is authenticated with a Google account, and Claude accesses data from the connected accounts. In Gmail, users can search for emails in natural language, draft messages, and reply, forward, or send, but user approval is generally required. In Google Drive, users can search documents, check file metadata, share, move, delete files, and create folders. In Google Calendar, users can view, create, modify, and delete events, check attendees' availability, and handle invitation responses. However, it only extracts text content from Drive files and does not process images within documents. Claude first publicly announced its integration with Google Workspace on April 15, 2025, and this expansion is part of the competitive landscape of workplace AI, with Google and Microsoft enhancing AI features in their respective apps. User reactions have been mixed, with concerns raised about data access and permission management.
