Chinese company ByteDance has begun training a large AI model with potentially up to 10 trillion parameters to catch up with American developers. The model is currently in the preliminary training phase, and its final size will be determined later. Such a scale could make it one of the largest in the world, exceeding China's Kimi K3 by three times. Preliminary training typically lasts from three to six months, after which additional fine-tuning is planned. The most powerful models from Anthropic have about 8 trillion parameters. The number of parameters determines the model's ability to process information but does not guarantee higher quality. Chinese developers are intensifying competition with American labs, with models like Moonshot and Alibaba showing strong results. ByteDance is less open about its projects, developing closed models. Its video generation model, Seedance, is one of the most powerful in the world, while its consumer model, Doubao, has about 324 million active users per month. ByteDance is actively investing in AI, expanding its network of data centers and attracting researchers. The company does not use distillation of foreign systems, believing that independent development will create a competitive model.
