Broadcom's AI chip financial structure is expanding into a capital market funding model that combines leasing and credit enhancement. The initial tranche is confirmed at $3.5 billion, with a maximum backstop exposure of $2.9 billion. Broadcom is set to launch the AI XPV platform in collaboration with Apollo and Blackstone on June 9. This platform will support over 20 gigawatts of AI computing capacity by 2028. The initial $3.5 billion tranche will support the expansion of Anthropic's computing infrastructure of over 1 gigawatt, funded through long-term leases and financial vehicles. According to the SEC 10-Q filing, investment partners have acquired some of Broadcom's AI accelerator-based rack purchase agreements and customer lease contracts. Broadcom has entered into contracts to backstop customer lease obligations on a five-year basis. If customer leases falter, Broadcom's backstop burden could become a market concern. Apollo has stated that the initial $3.5 billion financial solution will be executed over several years. According to Bank of America analysis, if this financial vehicle expands to 20 gigawatts, the senior debt could reach $370 billion by mid-2029. Broadcom's stock closed down 5.94% at $392.99.
