Beware of Internet and Telephone Scammers Impersonating WEEX Representatives

There is an increasing number of entities who use digital currencies to commit illegal acts such as fraud following the general increase in familiarity with digital currency trading. Recently, these fraudulent practices of criminals have become more prevalent, and new scams are emerging. WEEX would like to remind our users to be wary of frauds and scams, and to screen your transactions carefully to avoid financial losses. Due to the irreversibility of blockchain transfers and the anonymity of user information, your funds may not be recovered if there has been a breach of account information or if your funds have been transferred to another address.

Recent scams

Scammers use text messages about risks to their accounts and mislead them to fake phishing websites.
Scammers use the pretext of discontinuing services or removing user access to get users to visit fake phishing websites for asset transfer or conversion.
Scammers use the pretext of order verification to get users to visit fake phishing websites and then perform an "account freeze."
The scammers forge our brand logos and images to increase their credibility, and falsely claim that the user's account had been involved in illegal activities, is at high risk, or has already been frozen, then ask the user to take action to unlock the account.

Common scamming methods

Fraudulent use of the WEEX brand and pretending to be a WEEX employee or WEEX customer service employee to call users, add them as contacts on messenger apps, or get users to join fake communities.

Here are some typical scams:

The scammers add you to chats on messenger apss, or other social accounts, and ask for your email addressor send links or QR codes. You are invited to click on these links or scan the QR codes to fill in your account information, log in to the relevant accounts and bank accounts, and they ultimately steal your assets through a series of actions.
The scammer, posing as customer service, asks the user to share access remotely to guide the user through operations in the user's account. Additionally, they may also request the user's phone verification code or Google Authenticator code to complete the theft of the account.
Scammers provide the user with fake URLs to guide them to withdraw cryptocurrency to the so-called safe account, or to transfer fund to a designated address to complete "unfreezing of the account," "asset transfer," or similar actions, and steal users' assets in this way.
The scammers send fake text messages, emails, and make phone calls pretending to be official WEEX representatives, and inform the user that their account is suspected of being involved in money laundering and that the account has been frozen due to high risk. Other reasons they cite are that they are removing users or stopping the provision of services, or requesting to verify an order via SMS, so the user would be told to withdraw assets to a so-called safe account, to transfer assets, scan a QR code, or visit phishing websites.
The scammers create a group and pretend to be the official WEEX account to commit fraud by claiming to replace funds, generate interest earnings, or have events regarding smart contracts.

Identifying scams: Official information from WEEX will be published on the official WEEX website. Please be on the alert and do not be fooled if an event is not from the official WEEX platform. Please contact our customer service immediately if you have any questions, and to avoid being scammed.

The following are examples of fraudulent messages.

Security alert: The employees of any platform or staff of judiciary and public security organizations will not take the initiative to contact you about your account being a money laundering risk, nor ask you for sensitive information such as passwords, verification codes. They will also not ask you to download or use third-party access-sharing software, or instruct you to carry out asset transfers such as buy and withdrawing cryptocurrency or transferring assets. Any updates related to WEEX are officially announced on the official WEEX website and WEEX platforms, so please pay attention to the official source and screen messages carefully for fraudulent behavior to avoid losing you assets to scams.

Please also note that the official WEEX customer service staff will not contact users via phone calls and will only use the official WEEX communications channel to contact users.

You can verify the authenticity of emails and websites through the official WEEX verification page.

If you receive an email from WEEX that seems suspicious, please verify the sender's information first. Please also enable the anti-phishing option in your email settings if it is available for your email.
